Palo Duro Trail Run 50M/50K/25K

Event Description

On October 18th, 2025 the Palo Duro Trail run will celebrate it's 40th year!! The race was started by Red Spicer as a road race and has morphed into a beautiful trail run, with distances of 25K, 50K, and 50 Miles. We offer a distance for everyone and it makes for a great way to see a spectacular Texas State Park. The race takes place in mid-October when temperatures can vary from freezing at the start to over 100 degrees during the afternoon. We advise you to prepare for the extreme heat, as temperatures can be 10 degrees hotter in the canyon. The race takes place on mostly single track red dirt trails with a little bit of everything such as fast/smooth trails, sandy areas, and rocky/technical climbs and descents. The views of the second largest canyon in the United States are stunning as the sun comes up and the canyon comes alive. The course is a loop course, so you will see people most of the day and return to the start/finish in order to meet your crew. In 2024, we began alternating the direction the course is run every other year, east in even years and west in odd years. The 2025 race will be considered a West Year, which is the direction the course has historically been run.
